Pinterest Predicts Lounge Area

Who’s your dream client? The one you get to brag about for years? Mine is @pinterest . I don’t know about you all but I use Pinterest almost every day when looking for party inspo, decor ideas, recipes, to outfit ideas. Last month I had the honor of creating a backdrop/ lounge area for Pinterest’s quarterly event. To say I was excited is the mild version.

Did you know about Pinterest Predicts? Don’t feel bad, I didn’t either but now I feel like I’ve been missing out. (This is a taken directly from Pinterest because it explains it better than if I did. ) “People use Pinterest to plan for the future. That means we know what’s next. in fact for the last three years, 80% of our predictions came true. This isn’t another year-end trend report. This is a not-yet-trending report – a window into the future, from the place where people go to plan for it. Here, you’ll find the top 27 emerging trends for 2023.

Check out MUSH-ROOMS on PinterestPredicts.com for the inspo behind our install.

Main lounge area. MUSH-ROOM vibe with a hint of maximalist and weird-core decor.

Custom Neon Sign: Neon Stock (local and easy to work with)
Triangle End Table: Wayfair
Velvet Arm Chairs: Wayfair
Goldenrod Velvet Couch: Wayfair
Did you know Urban Outfitters has a bunch of cool décor online? I found a lot of items for this room from them. Checkerboard Flower Pillow, Felted Plant Cover, Mushroom Pillow, White Stassi Side Table, Checkerboard Shag Rag Rug

I couldn’t find the perfect coffee table so I made one myself. I think it turned out amazing and it’s one of my favorite pieces from this whole set up. It literally cost $60 (plus time) to make.

I love when I have lots of time to plan for installs and events. It gives me time to search for those special items. This tray was another one of my favorite finds. I found it in Nashville on a trip and knew it would be perfect. The disco balls are from my personal stash but bought most likely on Amazon. The purple vase is now in my office and I found it on a random shopping trip with my daughter to Anthropologie on Southport and the mushroom I’m pretty sure I found at World Market.

WE also created a secondary lounge area for the Pinterest Event but for some reason I only took videos and no photos. This area was a bit more Maximalist vibe and utilized Pinterests’ current furniture so basically all I had to do is add some accents. More is More Decor is the perfect coffee table book full of lots of ideas. You can purchase on Amazon.

OMG this rug was so loud but this area was so BIG and I had to find a giant rug that really made this area stand out without killing the budget . I found it at OverStock.com

I found this wavy mirror on Amazon and used it as a tray with some little Target dollar bin mushrooms. My friend Leigh at Indigo and Violett led a craft(painted pots) so I made an example of one and placed a funky cactus inside. I poked myself so many times on the d@mn cactus that I hope I never see it again 😉

This lip pillow was a super fun and from Amazon! Although my daughter had her on eye it the minute I found it and placed a claim on it after the event. This splat bowl is actually a cat bowl but I thought it was cute as coffee table decor and I filled it with mushroom stress balls. I mean who doesn’t need a stress ball these days.

Now for the highs and lows.

This was def one of my favorite projects to date. I would not say decor is my strength in event planning/styling … so while this was super fun I took longer than usual because I second guessed myself a lot.

This mushroom vinyl about had me in tears. It was by far the most challenging part of this whole project. For some reason I thought applying vinyl to a backdrop myself was a good idea. I mean I can do anything right? Well now I know… I can apply vinyl but shouldn’t. I have a new appreciation for my vinyl guy at SpeedPro. I will be sticking to the professionals from now on for vinyl application.

Definitely a highlight, I got to visit the Pinterest office!!! OMG!

As a person who schleps backdrops and event decor all the time I really appreciate easy load in. Everyone in the Pinterest building was super helpful and nice. From the loading dock man to the front desk staff to the marketing team.
